Zodiac" is the imaginary route in which the Sun revolves around the Earth during a period of one year. We write "Imaginary" because it is recognized nowadays that it is the Earth which is travelling around the Sun and not the Sun around the Earth. But this way of expressing the idea, being in continuous use, had better be adhered to for the present.
Now, as the Sun travels around the Earth, it seems to be entering every thirty days in the influential area of Constellation or Stars which ever since man has begun to take into account. The skies, have been known to be the successive monthly dwellings of the Sun, and are called the “Signs of the Zodiac.”
"Signs of the Zodiac" are the exact periods during which these Constellations have their effect over the Earth and the humans. Every Zodiac sign is ruled by a particular planet means ruled by the energy of that planet and is shown here.
The 1st Sign of the Zodiac is Aries, Mangal (the Ram). It reigns from period of March 21st to April 19th.
The 2nd sign of the Zodiac is Taurus, Venus (the Bull). It reigns from the period of April 20th to May 19th.
The 3rd sign of the Zodiac is Gemini, Mercury (the Twins). It reigns from the period of May 20th to June 19th.
The 4th sign of the Zodiac is Cancer, Moon (the Crab). It reigns from the period of June 19th to July 23rd.
The 5th sign of the Zodiac is Leo, Sun (the Lion). It reigns from the period of July 24th to August 22d.
The 6th sign of the Zodiac is Virgo, Mercury (the Virgin). It reigns from the period of August 23d to September 21st.
The 7th sign of the Zodiac is Libra, Venus (the Balance). It reigns from the period of September 22d to October 21st.
The 8th sign of the Zodiac is Scorpio, Mangal (the Scorpion). It reigns from the period of October 22d to November 20th.
The 9th sign of the Zodiac is Sagittarius, Jupiter (the Archer). It reigns from the period of November 21st to December 20th.
The 10th sign of the Zodiac is Capricorn, Saturn (the Sea-Goat). It reigns from the period of December 21st to January 19th.
The 11th sign of the Zodiac is Aquarius, Saturn (the Water- Bearer). It reigns from the period of January 20th to February 18th.
The 12th sign of the Zodiac is Pisces, Jupiter (the Fishes). It reigns from the period of February 19th to March 20th.
The divisions of these twelve periods/dates are called “Degrees” and not “Days.” As the students have doubts, so there are 30 degrees (days) in each sign. The only exception is “Cancer” where there are 35 degrees (days) to complete the regular cycle of 365.
